Planned Parenthood Provides Contraception to Evacuees

Okay they've got no bed, no room, no house to "it" in, but let's give them protection from STD's????

If we're going to give them protection, give them protection from the elements. From stupid people pretending to know what they need.

OK, now, aside from our own opinions about birth control and planned parenthood, let's actually look at this.

People lost everything. Many of these people do not desire to have more children at this time. Many of them will have a giant struggle ahead of them to get themselves set up in a new life. Many of the people who were left behind and could not evacuate are on welfare.

Do we really think it is either reasonable to expect that all people displaced by having their home and city destroyed are both
-not entitled to a sexual relationship (just pretend that it's with a spouse for sake of argument)
-and that they should now be open to having a new baby, when they have no house, no clothes, no money, no access to regular health care, and a sketchy future ahead of them?

It seems to me that especially in the segment of the population that could not evacuate, if pregnancies are not avoided, there will probably be very many more abortions that usual.

I do not support planned parenthood, and am not in favor of abortifacient forms of birth control. But I think that it makes sense to me what is happening here. An organization is offering what they always offer, to help a situation that they specialize in helping.

While I understand where you are coming from Dollymama, I just don't think contraception is a true relief effort. Especially providing them the abortion pill. Sure, there may be pregnancies that aren't "convenient" but that is no reason to give people a morning after pill. Although I don't expect people to control themselves (and I doubt that most are married) that doesn't mean we have to help them out in their sin. As far as the married people are concerned, if they get pregnant it's a blessing from God - and He can and will provide for any blessings he gives them.

The problem with it is that Planned Parenthood is offering abortifacients (birth control pills and emergency contraception) to people. It might be different if they were handing out c*ndoms or something like that.

Their website also equates birth control with a necessity of life. "Women and families escaped the storm with their lives, leaving behind birth control and other items critical to their well-being." Critical to their well-being???????

So rather than *gasp* abstaining until they can get their feet on the ground a bit better, PP is going to dole out medication that potentially kills children, since, doncha know, birth control is "critical to your well-being."

It's not about birth control or not. It's about PP taking advantage of this situation to promote their agenda and the lie that birth control is a necessity.

Nevermind that they aren't willing to help in some other way that would meet TRUE necessities like food, water, shelter, clothing, etc.

THAT'S the issue at hand and why it's so appalling.
